The Studies on the Human Versional Eye Movement System

Abstract
This study aims to investigate changes in human saccadic eye movement system behavior due to oculomotor disturbances from drugs which have tranquilizing and muscle-relaxing properties. The measurement of range of angular disturbance was 10 and 20 degrees for the horizontal saccadic eye movement using infrared reflection technique.
On secobarbital administration, peak velocity (PV) showed a consistent change under the influence of the drug, an average decrease of 35% in 10 degrees and of 41% in 20 degrees were observed.
Tests of all three subjects were significant at the 5% level, and also it was observed that the main saccade was follow by a CM accompanying the drifts. The production rate was 36.7% in 10 degrees, 56.2% in 20 degrees and reaction time of the 1st CM was 210 msec. Frequently the one step saccade disintegrated into a multistep saccade which had a short latency.
